I am a sucker for chicken wings. I simply love them, my favorites are the classic Buffalo wings, the Asian wings, and the Peri Peri wings. I used to spend so much money just on wings until I started making them at home. Trust me, the homemade ones are not just cheaper, they are tastier and healthier too. So, if you have been shying away from making them at home, this is the time to try it out.
What I love the most about this recipe is the fact that how easy it is. This makes it a great party appetizer. It takes very little effort and very little time which leaves you with time to do other important things.
WHAT ARE CHICKEN WINGS?
Chicken wings are white meat, consisting of two parts the flat, and the drumette. The drumette resembles a mini drumstick. The drumette is attached to the breast of the chicken. Chicken wings are mostly bones and fat so they don't take a lot of time to cook. They are full of proteins, budget-friendly, and cooked in a variety of ways. You can grill, bake, fry, or soup them.
HOW TO CUT CHICKEN WINGS?
Most groceries sell pre-cut chicken wings called party wings. If you are using whole wings, here is a quick tutorial for you.
WHAT IS SWEET CHILI SAUCE?
The Thai sweet chili sauce is also known as Nam Chim Kai in Thailand. The specialty of this sauce lies in the fact that it can not only be used in Asian stir-fries or other delicacies but also serves well as a dipping sauce. You can enjoy it with almost all appetizers like rolls, dumplings, chicken wings, wontons, crab cakes, or cheese toasts.

Slightly sticky, sweet, and just a little bit spicy, these Sweet Chili Chicken Wings check all the boxes of the most desirable wing recipe. Unlike most wings recipes out there, these are baked and not fried, which make them extra special.

INGREDIENTS
Here is what you will need to make the delicious Sweet Chili wings:
- Chicken wings - washed, cut, and trimmed
- Sauces - Thai Sweet Chili sauce, Soy Sauce, and Fish Sauce
- Minced Garlic
- Olive oil
- Seasonings - Salt, brown sugar, and freshly crushed black pepper
- Sesame seeds (optional) and spring onion greens for garnishing. If you prefer, chili flakes instead, you may use that too.
HOW TO MAKE IT?
Season the wings with salt and pepper. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine Thai Sweet Chili sauce, Soy Sauce, Fish Sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, and brown sugar.
Add the chicken wings to the sauce mix and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Preheat an oven to 375 F. Place wings on a rack in the pan and bake for 35-40 minutes until cooked through and skin turns crispy.
Reduce the remaining marinade in a skillet until the sauce thickens.
Toss the baked wings in the sauce, sprinkle the spring onion greens, and sesame seeds.
Enjoy with your favorite dip.
HOW TO MAKE IT IN AIR FRYER?
Prepare the sauce mix as indicated above. Marinate the chicken wings in the sauce mix and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Spray the frying basket of the air fryer with some oil and then place the wings in a single layer (you may need to air-fry in multiple batches).
Close the lid of the air fryer and set the temperature to 400F. Set the cooking time to 25 minutes. Air crisp the wings.
Midway through the process, open the air fryer, and flip the wings. This will help them cook evenly and not stick. Continue to cook for the remaining time.
Crisp till done and then check the internal temperature to ensure they are cooked through. If required, cook for an additional 2-4 minutes at 400F.
Toss the crisped chicken wings in the reduced sauce, sprinkle the spring onion greens, and sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Overcooking the chicken wings can make the skin tough and lead to drying out. To avoid this it is advisable to keep checking while baking in the oven. Bake too long and they will dry out, too short and they will be all soggy. Keeping a vigilant eye is the key.
